A short stretch of concrete anti-tanks blocks has been identified from oblique aerial photographs (RAF S319.H53.1416, frame 21, flown 11 July 1941), immediately SE of the end of the esplanade. The photographs show that the blocks were protecting a large blowout in the sand dunes and had been strengthened by the addition of two lines of barbed wire fencing. The blocks have not been recorded by Mr J Guy as part of his rapid survey (NMRS MS 810/1, 1992) of the coast in this area, so they probably have been removed.
