A line of concrete World War II anti-tank blocks has been identified from wartime RAFoblique aerial photographs (RAF S319.H53.1416, frames 10, 12, flown 11 July 1941). They run as a double line from a point NE of the Water of Philorth to immediately W of the mouth of the river. A further single line of anti-tank pimples runs from the centre of the river, at the point where the larger blocks cross, to where the coast turns west again on the W side of the Water of Philorth. The blocks have probably been removed as they were not recorded by Mr J Guy as part of his survey of this area during 1992.
