| A coastal track runs on the seaward side of the Montrose to Inverbervie North British Railway (NBR) Bervie Branch line, opened 1865, taken over by NBR in 1881 and closed in 1951. The track here is carried over the edge of Horse Crook Bay on a stone reveted section. The raised earthwork railway embankment, boundary walling, building footings, crossings, parallel track and fences survive in sections all along the coast between Johnshaven and Inverbervie. The disused line now forms the coastal path between Gourdon and Inverbervie. A number of interesting 19th century fence strainer posts survive along the route of the railway. |
