Description
| Anti-tank concrete blocks occupy part of the bay and Stotfield Hythe to the north-west of Lossiemouth. Some are partially covered in sand. Four pillboxes (Type 24 variants) have also been recorded along the section of defences between the lighthouse and Lossiemouth, two on this eastern half of the beach although neither survive. |
| Master record for anti tank blocks stretching in a more or less unbroken line from Lossie West Beach car park to Covesea Skerries Lighthouse. In the mid point of the bay, between two small watercourses, the blocks are situated just behind the coast edge. Elsewhere they are on the beach, where many are fallen over. Some of the blocks bear graffiti on the top of the blocks carved into the soft cement during construction. Generally the lettering refers to the Polish and Welsh soldiers who constructed them. A few have the date 1940. A copper alloy Polish Army Eagle cap badge is pressed into the top of one of the blocks. |
